An image won't upload — why, and how do I fix it?

See the allowed formats and sizes for each place you upload images (products, logo, categories, banners), what the error messages mean, and how to prepare an image so it uploads first time.

If you try to upload an image and get an error, or the image never appears, the cause is almost always the image's format, file size or dimensions. Each place in the dashboard has its own limit; the table below sums them up.

Allowed formats and sizes

Where you uploadFormatsMaximum file size
Product images (up to 10)JPG · PNG · WEBP2 MB per image
"Store Logo" in "Store Settings"JPG · PNG · WEBP4 MB
"Store Icon"PNG, JPG or WEBP2 MB
Category imageJPG · PNG · WEBP4 MB
"Banners"JPG · PNG · WEBPThe limit shown in the error message (usually 2 MB)

On top of that, every image has some general limits:

  • The longest side must be 4000 pixels or less. Photos from modern phone cameras often exceed this.
  • HEIC (the iPhone photo format), SVG and animated GIF files are not accepted.
  • The platform checks the file's actual content, so just renaming the extension (for example calling a HEIC file .jpg) won't work.

What the error messages mean

  • "File is bigger than 2MB — please resize and retry" or "Unsupported format — use JPG, PNG or WEBP": shown for product images before uploading. Make the image smaller or change its format.
  • "Please select jpg, jpeg, png type of Image file": shown for product images when the upload is refused for any reason, not only the format — most often the image is larger than 4000 pixels or the file is damaged.
  • «صيغة صورة المتجر غير مدعومة… تم حفظ باقي الإعدادات.» (the store image format isn't supported; your other settings were saved): the logo wasn't uploaded but everything else was saved. Try a PNG or JPG with smaller dimensions.
  • "The uploaded file must be an image with (.png | .jpg | .jpeg| .webp) extension & file size must be less than …": on banners — the message tells you the allowed size.
  • "The image could not be read — the file is corrupt…", "The image is larger than allowed…", "The image dimensions are too large…" or "The image could not be uploaded. Please try again.": re-save the image as JPG or PNG with smaller dimensions and try again.

How to prepare an image so it uploads first time

  1. Open the image in any photo editor or an online image resizer.
  2. Resize it so the longest side is about 1500–2000 pixels (for products, 1000×1000 is described as ideal).
  3. Save or export it as JPG (or PNG if it has a transparent background, like a logo).
  4. Check the file size is below the limit in the table, then upload it again.

iPhone tip: in Settings → Camera → Formats choose "Most Compatible" so photos are saved as JPG instead of HEIC. Or send the photo to yourself on WhatsApp and save it — WhatsApp converts it to a smaller JPG.

Note: the platform automatically compresses and resizes images after upload so your store loads faster (product images, for example, are reduced to about 1280 pixels), so there's no benefit in uploading huge files. The store icon accepts PNG, JPG or WEBP (ICO files are not accepted) — a square 512 × 512 PNG works best.

Still won't upload?

Try another browser or a private window. If the problem continues, write to us from the contact page with where you're uploading, the exact error message, and the image's format and size — ideally attach the image itself.
