How to use Price & profit calculator

    1. Enter the product cost, packaging and the shipping you pay
    2. Add the ad cost per order, the payment fee and the refused-delivery rate
    3. Choose «Target margin» to get a price, or «I have a price» to see your profit

How to price a product correctly

A selling price is not cost plus a percentage. Every order costs packaging, shipping and ads, and the payment gateway keeps a share of the price. With cash on delivery some orders are refused: you lose the two-way shipping and the ad spend on them, and that loss has to be spread over the orders that were delivered. The calculator adds all of this up and returns a price that leaves the net profit you want.

    Margin or markup?

Margin is net profit divided by the selling price; markup is profit divided by the cost. A product that costs 100 and sells for 150 has a 50% markup but only a 33% margin. The calculator shows both so they never get mixed up.

How do I calculate profit margin?

Profit margin = (selling price − all costs) ÷ selling price × 100. Costs include the product, packaging, shipping, ads, the payment fee and each order's share of the loss on refused orders.

    What is the refused-delivery rate?

The share of cash-on-delivery orders the shopper refuses at the door. If you do not know it, start with an estimate and correct it from your real orders after the first month.

What payment fee should I enter?

The percentage in your contract with the payment gateway or the courier that collects the cash. If you collect cash yourself, enter zero.

Does the calculator store my numbers?

No. Everything is calculated on your device and no number is sent to us.
