How do I connect a domain I already own to my store?
Go to My Domains → Add Domain → Connect Existing Domain, save your domain, and set the two nameservers shown on screen at your registrar. Everything else, including SSL, is automatic.
In this article
If you own a domain (like mystore.com) you can have your store open on it instead of the platform link. You connect it from your dashboard and your account at the company you bought the domain from — no need to contact the admins. The platform doesn't charge extra for connecting a domain.
Before you start
- You own the domain and can log in to the control panel of the company you bought it from (e.g. GoDaddy, Hostinger or Namecheap).
- You connect the root domain only (like
example.comorexample.com.eg), not a subdomain likeshop.example.com. - Each store can have one custom domain.
- If you use email on this domain (for example Google Workspace or Microsoft 365), first read Will my domain email stop if I change nameservers?
Steps
- In the side menu open My Domains.
- Type your domain in the bar at the top (like
brand.com) —https://andwwware stripped for you — and press Connect. - In the "What to copy at your registrar" column you'll see "Change your nameservers" with two values: NS1 and NS2. Copy each one with the copy button next to it.
- Log in to your domain company's control panel, find Nameservers, choose custom nameservers, remove the old values and enter the two you copied exactly, then save. "Step-by-step by provider" has detailed steps for each company; if yours isn't listed, pick "Any other provider".
- That's it. The platform re-checks your domain automatically every few minutes, and once the change has spread it connects it, makes it live and issues an SSL certificate with no action from you. If you're in a hurry, click Verify Now.
Note: a nameserver change usually takes 1 to 24 hours to spread, occasionally up to 48 hours. Your store keeps working on its current link the whole time.
If the page asks you to "Add DNS records" instead of nameservers
Sometimes the page shows a records table instead of nameservers. In that case add one record only on the root domain (@) at your DNS provider:
- A CNAME record pointing to
connect.elmatajer.com— if your provider allows it on the root domain (like Cloudflare, or ALIAS at Namecheap). - Or an A record with the value shown in the table — for providers that don't allow a root CNAME (like GoDaddy and Hostinger).
Delete any old A or CNAME record on @, and if your domain is on Cloudflare set Proxy Status to "DNS only" (grey cloud, not orange).
What happens next?
- Once DNS is correct you'll see "Verified — activating". We issue your SSL certificate and confirm your store really answers on your domain; this usually takes 1–15 minutes.
- Then you'll see "Domain live & connected" with an Open Store button, and on My Domains the domain gets the Active badge.
- From then on visitors reach your store on your domain, and anyone who types
www.in front is redirected to the root domain automatically.
The SSL certificate (the padlock in the browser) is created and renewed automatically — you don't need to buy one.
Common problems
- "Enter the root domain only (e.g. example.com) — subdomains are not supported.": remove the part before your domain name.
- "You already have a custom domain — one per store…": edit or delete your current domain first — see How do I change or remove my custom domain?
- "This domain is already used by another store.": the domain is connected to another store; if it really is yours, contact support.
- Status stuck on "Pending" for a long time: see My custom domain isn't working.
