Paymob lets your shoppers pay by card and mobile wallet, and the money goes straight into your own Paymob account. Elmatajer only provides the connection; there is no shared platform Paymob account.

Note: Paymob is available to every store. Once you connect your account and turn it on, shoppers see it at checkout next to cash on delivery.

Before you start

  • A Paymob merchant account.
  • From your Paymob dashboard: the Secret Key and Public Key (Settings → Account Info) and the HMAC Secret (Settings → Webhooks).
  • At least one card or mobile-wallet integration in your Paymob account, in the environment you'll use.

Steps

  1. Open "Payments & Billing" → "Payment Gateways" and click "Settings" on the Paymob row.
  2. In "Your Paymob account details", paste the Secret Key (usually starts with egy_sk_), the Public Key (egy_pk_) and the HMAC Secret.
  3. The API Key field is "(optional — Settings → Account Info)": "Not needed for payments or refunds — it enables transaction lookup and reconciliation."
  4. Under "Environment", pick "Sandbox" to test.
  5. Click "Save details". You'll see "Paymob connection saved. Click "Test connection" to verify."
  6. Copy the "Webhook / Callback URL" from the same page into Paymob as the Transaction processed callback of your integration. Without it payments can't be confirmed and orders won't be recorded.
  7. Click "Test connection".

What does "Test connection" do?

The test sends Paymob the same request your checkout sends when a shopper pays. If Paymob doesn't recognise the default payment names, Elmatajer fetches your account's real integration IDs itself, saves them and tests again. You never type integration IDs.

  • On success: "Connection verified." and the status becomes "Verified".
  • If your account has no card or wallet integration, the test fails and tells you so.
  • You can re-run the test every 10 seconds.

Paymob is offered to shoppers only when the test has passed, the Paymob switch on "Available Payment Methods" is "Active", and the platform has Paymob on.

Going Live

The "Live" option stays locked until you enter Live keys and click "Verify Live keys". Your Paymob account itself must be switched to Live, otherwise you'll see "Your Paymob account is still in Test Mode, not Live". Just like the connection test, "Verify Live keys" fetches your real integration IDs from your account automatically, whatever they are named in Paymob. Every Live save is checked with Paymob before it is stored.

Changing keys later

Secret keys are never shown again. "Leave any secret field blank to keep the stored value." The Secret Key and HMAC Secret are required only on the first connection; the Public Key is required on every save.

Disconnecting

Click "Disconnect" and confirm. You'll see "Paymob disconnected. It will not be offered to your customers until you connect an account again." Saved keys are removed, so reconnecting means entering all keys again.

If the test fails, read Paymob or Kashier test fails.
