Add-ons are things a shopper can choose to add to a product for an extra price — gift wrap, a one-year warranty, an installation service, or a name printed on the product. They appear on the product page in your store under “Optional add-ons”, and the price of whatever the shopper picks is added to the cart.

Available types

When you add an extra to a product you can choose its type: Add-on, Gift wrap, Warranty, Service, Insurance, Customize, Accessory. The type helps you organise your list; the shopper sees the name and price.

Your ready-made extras list

From the sidebar, open Product Extras (the page is titled Global Extras). This is where you set up extras once and reuse them on any product:

  • Each group has a + button in its header to add a new item (name and price).
  • You can create your own group with Add New Type and choose its shape: Priced, Choice only or Color swatch.
  • Use the pencil to edit and the bin to delete.
  • The “Colors” and “Sizes” groups are where product variants take their options from.

Attaching extras to a product

  1. Open the product page (a new product, or Edit on an existing one).
  2. Switch on the Add-ons & extras card.
  3. Pick extras from your list, or click Add new extra, type a name and price, and save — it's added to your list and to the product at the same time.
  4. Selected extras appear under Attached extras. You can change the Price for this product, and under Advanced write a Description shown next to the extra.
  5. Click Publish product or Save changes. Extras are saved both on a new product and when you edit an existing one.

Note: picking an extra from your list copies it onto the product. If you later change its price or name under Product Extras, products that already use it don't change — edit them from each product's page.

Limits to know about

  • The “Required” and “Max qty” options are not applied in your store yet. All extras are shown to shoppers as optional, and they can order the product without them. If something must be paid for with the product, include it in the product price.
  • An extra with an empty name or a negative price isn't saved. A price of zero is fine for a free extra.
  • If you switch off the Add-ons & extras card and save, all extras are removed from that product. The page warns you before you save: “Turning add-ons off removes all of this product’s add-ons when you save.”

Messages you may see

  • “Enter a name”: type a name before saving.
  • “Invalid price”: enter zero or a positive number.
  • “Already existed — attached”: that extra is already in your list, so it was attached instead of being duplicated.
